Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Sr Citrix Engineer position! This is a 12+ month contract opportunity and will be hybrid in Buffalo, NY, offering the flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week while providing the opportunity for in-person collaboration at the Buffalo Tech Hub. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services and is not open to C2C.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Citrix Engineer to serve as a senior technical specialist and engineering leader responsible for the design, implementation, and long-term success of a Citrix DaaS environment hosted in Microsoft Azure.

This role will play a critical part in evaluating the current on-premises Citrix VDI environment, architecting the future-state Azure-based DaaS platform, and leading the enterprise-scale migration, operationalization, and ongoing optimization of the solution. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Microsoft Azure architecture and Citrix technologies, strong engineering judgment, and the ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

This is a high-impact opportunity to lead a large-scale cloud transformation initiative, migrating approximately 10,000 users from on-premises infrastructure to Azure by mid-2027.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Serve as the senior technical specialist for Citrix and VDI technologies, providing architecture guidance, engineering leadership, and hands-on implementation
• Architect and deliver the future-state Citrix DaaS platform within Azure
• Lead the design, deployment, migration, maintenance, and monitoring of the Citrix DaaS environment in Azure
• Evaluate existing on-premises VDI platforms and develop a comprehensive migration and modernization strategy
• Lead engineering design discussions with external Citrix partners and vendors
• Assist with ongoing BAU support of the on-premises Citrix environment as needed
• Design infrastructure architectures that account for security, scalability, resiliency, performance, and regulatory requirements
• Design and implement Citrix Cloud services, including:
• Citrix DaaS
• uberAgent
• Citrix Device Trust and App Protection
• Support application containerization, streaming, and optimization for virtual environments
• Develop automation to streamline provisioning, access, entitlements, and lifecycle management
• Design and deliver platform health, performance, and user experience metrics leveraging APIs, Microsoft Graph, and Power BI
• Collaborate with security, networking, identity, and cloud teams to ensure integration with Azure and Entra ID
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, documentation, and operational runbooks
• Mentor and coach junior engineers; review designs and provide technical guidance
• Independently engage business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and recommend solutions

What You’ll Need to Have

• Minimum of 8 years of combined higher education and professional experience in infrastructure engineering, systems design, or architecture
• Enterprise-level experience designing and supporting large-scale virtual desktop or application delivery platforms
• Proven experience leading an Azure migration from on-premises infrastructure (must have Microsoft Azure experience)
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including:
• Virtual networking and hybrid connectivity
• Identity and access integration
• Security and monitoring
• Advanced experience with Citrix technologies, including Citrix DaaS and Citrix Cloud services
• Experience migrating large user populations in complex enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of infrastructure lifecycle management, IT Service Management, and vendor best practices
• Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into structured, high-quality solutions
• Strong knowledge of server, client, virtualization, and cloud-based technologies
• Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Experience working in regulated environments such as financial services

Pay Range: $70 - $85/hr+
