Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Senior Active Directory / Entra Engineer position! This is a 12+ month contract opportunity and will be hybrid in Buffalo, NY. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced technologist to support and enhance enterprise identity infrastructure, with a focus on Active Directory and Microsoft Entra environments. This role will serve as a technical leader responsible for engineering, supporting, and evolving identity platforms that support secure authentication, access management, and enterprise infrastructure initiatives.

The engineer will work closely with technology leadership, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain identity and directory services while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security standards, and organizational goals.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise Active Directory and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) infrastructure solutions.
• Support daily identity infrastructure operations including SSO support, SPN management, account provisioning, and domain services maintenance.
• Perform server builds, domain integrations, domain maintenance, and retirement of servers within AD environments.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for identity, authentication, and directory services issues.
• Lead and contribute to major infrastructure initiatives, including re-architecting legacy applications and relocating systems to a new colocated data center.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, infrastructure teams, and stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure technical solutions.
• Create and maintain architectural documentation, standards, policies, and support procedures.
• Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, reviewing technical proposals and changes.
• Coordinate with vendors when required to support infrastructure solutions and services.
• Analyze system requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical implementations.
• Ensure solutions align with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule (approximately one week every ten weeks) for critical support needs.

What You'll Need to Have

• Technical expertise in Active Directory engineering and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD).
• Strong experience supporting enterprise identity infrastructure, authentication services, and directory services environments.
• Proven ability to lead large initiatives and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Minimum 6 years of combined higher education and/or professional experience in systems design, architecture, or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong experience with server/client environments and virtual infrastructure technologies.
• Advanced troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience translating complex business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to document system specifications, architecture, and technical processes.
• Understanding of how enterprise technologies integrate with broader infrastructure systems.
• Ability to adapt quickly and learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.

Pay Range: $60-$70/hr
